The Galloway breed in Australia has been built on the ancient bloodline of Galloway cattle and since 2011 they have been a noticeable feature of the landscape at ‘Walbundry Run’. It is this ancient Galloway bloodline that enables us to produce quality Commercial Livestock that matches our established goals as cattle producers.

It's Their Genetics

The Galloway breed have been proven to have a genetic make-up that imparts them with a large number of commercially advantageous characteristics, including:

Marbling ability off grass
Foraging ability
Efficient feed conversion
Gentle temperament
Ease of calving
Double hairy coat
Natural lack of horns
Excellent milk production and capacity to raise healthy calves

Including their high fertility, what we have is an ideal breed for our beef production enterprise. In essence, the above genetic traits translate into a quality product line for our customers.

It's Their Longevity

In 1995 a couple from Berry (NSW) said goodbye to their herd of ten (10) years. For the last few years they had been asking their vet what they should do with their older cattle. The vets consistent advice was “So long as they keep their good condition, keep them producing calves as they will be better for it.” One of their cows turned 17 in 2012 and gave birth not long afterwards. The calf looked like a clone of her mother, proof that the trait to produce and nurture strong, healthy calves well into their teens is noteworthy for consideration when selecting a breed for stud and/or commercial production strategies.

It's Their Versatility

Galloway cattle, from the Highlands of Scotland, are versatile and for many years they have shown how adaptable they can really be and are. Galloway cattle are unique in the beef industry, originating when the survival of people depended on the ruggedness and high production qualities of their cattle.
